Nayanthara, celebrated as the ‘Lady Superstar’ of Kollywood, graced the screens with her 75th film, ‘Annapoorani.’ Directed by Nilesh Krishna, this culinary drama hit theatres on December 1, featuring a stellar cast including Nayantara, Jai, Sathyaraj, KS Ravikumar, Achyuth Kumar, Redin Kingsley, and Karthik Kumar.

Despite its significance as a milestone film for Nayanthara, ‘Annapoorani’ faced challenges at the box office, garnering minimal traction among audiences.

The narrative orbits around Nayanthara’s character, an aspiring chef caught between her passion for culinary arts and her traditional, devout family background. The storyline poignantly illustrates the hurdles faced by a woman striving in a highly competitive culinary landscape.

Now, the much-anticipated movie is all set to make its digital debut on Netflix. The international OTT platform announced the premiere date as December 29, catering to audiences in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages.

‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food,’ directed by Nilesh Krishnaa in his debut, is jointly produced by Jatin Sethi and R. Ravindran under Zee Studios, Naad Sstudios, and Trident Arts banners.

This culinary tale was officially unveiled in July 2022 under the working title ‘Nayanthara 75,’ signifying the star’s milestone in the lead role. Filming commenced in April 2023 across Chennai and Tiruchirappalli, concluding by mid-September 2023. The movie boasts music by Thaman S, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, and editing by Praveen Anthony.

Released on December 1, 2023, ‘Annapoorani’ received a blend of reviews from critics, offering a glimpse into Annapoorani’s struggle to navigate her aspirations within the confines of a traditional, vegetarian Brahmin family, where her father serves as a temple priest.
