How to Apply for Sovereign Gold Bonds Online
Applying for SGBs is now easier than ever. Eligible investors, including resident individuals, HUFs, trusts, universities, and charitable institutions, can apply through listed scheduled commercial banks or designated entities like Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), Clearing Corporation of India (CCIL), post offices, and stock exchanges.

Online applications are facilitated through the websites of participating banks like State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and others. Applying online offers a benefit of Rs 50 per gram less than the nominal value, provided payment is made through digital modes.

- Eligibility: Resident individuals, HUFs, trusts, universities, and charitable institutions.
- Subscription Limits:
- Individuals and HUFs: Minimum of one gram, maximum of 4 kg.
- Trusts: Maximum of 20 kg per fiscal year.
- KYC Norms: Similar to those for purchasing physical gold, requiring documents such as voter ID, Aadhaar card/PAN, or passport.

Payment for the bonds can be made through cash (up to Rs 20,000), demand draft, cheque, or net banking. Investors have the option to exit SGBs after a minimum of five years. While tradable on bourses if held in Demat form, the exit price depends on the prevailing market gold price.
